I have been told by a self-appointed expert that only the binary systems are used in all computers.
Are there computers that use different switching systems that are not binary?noton
Not true, quantum computers can use numbers in any base, even imaginary / complex.

Essentially all computer languages, may it be machine code, C, Java etc all break down to 1's and 0's.
It is possible to use analog circuitry for computers... like what they used in video tape recorders and such, but it is too inaccurate for the purposes of a COMPUTING system. It would work more like an estimator. Using the "switch method", on/off or 1/0, is apparently much better at such calculations than the old analog method. I wondered about the same question a little while back myself and found this:

It was helpful.
no, all computers use binary. This is because they all need to communicate with each other.
