I was going to be buying a dell xps400 and now when i go to look for it, it's not there. So now they are featureing a xps410 , but it's another $100 dollars. So my question is: Do dell computers go on sale around christmas?

Dell computers go on sale 3 days before a quarter end, so that they can jack their sales - so end of September, see lots of Dell sales - so they can report good quarterly earnings.

Don't buy a Dell just because of the name. Take the specs of the computer you wish to buy to a local custom pc seller and i'm sure they can make a computer with the same features or better for less.
If they do, probably not by much, because Dell tries to make its regular prices as low as possible; that is their edge in the market.

I don't know about Christmas sales, but keep an eye on http://www.gotapex.com. They have offer big coupon codes for Dell products daily.
