How many computers (users?) can I hook into a T-1 Line?

I need approximately 50 machines to have internet access. I was under the impression that I could connect a massive number of machines to the T-1 line (which isn't installed yet) but I have read online that it can only have a maximum of 24 'users' on the line. Does than mean I can only have 24 computers connected to the internet via T-1? Any assistance would be helpful.

It depends on the activity you expect on the T-1. High bandwidth applications will quickly saturate the line. Just one user downloading a large file could spike the bandwidth (1.54Mbps). But a bunch of people checking email for example, would not be an issue.

I once worked in an office where 200 people shared a T-1 without much issue. But that was before bit torrent =)

So it depends on what the T-1 is used for.

If you connect the T1 to a router, you can have as many users online as the router(s) can support.
The only limitation you have is the number of ports on your switch/hub. 24 ports is a standard number for one switch to have, but you can always use more than 1 and hook them together.
