second

ip 192.168.100.2

subnet 225.225.225.0

restart and evry thing should be fine

go to control panel network places and you should see both PCs

then drag and drop

yeah 2 points

two words..learn them well...crossover cable =)
Its a cat 5 crossover cable and the colours are differnt on each end.

You just need to buy a cheap network card for the second computer or buy a router and a network card.
You can connect the two computers using a crossover cable, such as this one.

How I can share files on my computers?

I have a router and three computers attached to it, (like a star), One with Win XP%26 two with Win 98. High speed internet cable (Co-axel) goes to router. Network cables (RJ45) go from router to computers. I can surf the web on these simultaneously. The question is, how I can see and work with the files of one computer from an other?

Depending on your router setup, you may already have everything you need. If the router is configured as a DHCP server (auto obatin IPs) than take the IP of the computer you want to get files from and type it into the address bar of my computer in this format \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx this will open the other computer regardless of work group. make sure that you have file sharing turned on by right clicking the folder you want to share, go to sharing and enable it. if you have any more questions you can email me and i will explain it a little better.

You have to set up a home or office network. Go to control panel, click network and internet connections, and then click "set up or change a home office network." Have all computers on at the same time and follow the steps. You have to do this for all of the computers.

There are different versions that may do what you want. The free version allows you to access other computers that you've installed it on via the web. I use it to support many of my family and friends' computers. There are extra security features that you can choose too in the free version. The ones that cost money may work for you too, check it out. Good luck.

You may also want to check out Hamachi which is linked through LogMeIn. You may be able to do http://www.hamachi.com

That all depends upon how you wish to connect them. The usual methods would be Remote Desktop Connection or VPN from computer 1 into computer 2, but those are really one-way connections.

Setting up a Lan Between 2-3 computers?

I looked intomy net status and then properties, and theres all new things there like: "file and printer sharing for microsoft networks" and "NWlink" and "Qos Packet sheduler" etc...before it was just internet protocool, etc..i just need to connect 1 last computer to the network so that files can be shared and LAN games can happen..PLZ HELP!

To play games across the network, all you need is the TCP/IP protocol.

To share files between machines, you need "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks". On the new computer, you must set the same workgroup name as the other machines which are currently connected.

Why is it that display computers at various stores lag horribly on the demo videos?

I noticed this today when I went to Office Depot. Every single one of the laptops and desktops on display had the standard Vista demo video playing, and all of them, from the cheapest to the most expensive, had it lagging and very choppy. Now, most of these laptops can handle DVDs and high definition video, so why do they stutter on the stupid little Vista demo video? It seems like it would be bad for sales to have the display video performing so badly. This was also the case with the old XP computers as well.

I build my own computers so it doesn't really affect me, but it just seemed interesting.

So, can anyone tell me why this is true at every store I happen to be in? Just curious...

The problem is RAM memory.

Often these computers are rarely restarted, so the RAM memory--regardless of how much the computer has installed--becomes committed. Thus, all store computers will lag.

Ask a store clerk to restart the computer for better performance.

Do all computers have batteries in them?

Do all computers have batteries in them? I know older modles do but I assume the newer ones do to..

Do all computers have batteries in them?computer virus

Desktop computers only need a battery, to keep your BIOS settings stable, if the battery dies any BIOS data is lost. Your computer will no longer work, replace the battery and reset the BIOS settings. BTW the battery is usually a CR2032 Lithium battery.

Yes, laptops and desktops both have batteries.
Yes, all of them do.
Yes that's how your computer keeps the time and date when you turn it off for one thing but I'm sure it helps other functions too.
cmos yes it holds the settings
I would imagine that all pc's do. they use them on the motherboard, but it is a simple watch battery i think, just to keep some juce flowing for the cmos.
yes they do
Yup all of em have batteries in them. they are small ones, for memory, and for the clock.

I want to learn about computers... Where do I start?

I would like to learn more about computers and their hardware. I have been using them since I was little and all I know is what I've taught myself, and things I had to learn as problems arose. What subject should I start with? Do any of you have any good links? I would eventually like to learn to program and maybe even make my own computers, but I don't feel like I have necessary background information to even start those projects. So where do I go from here? :) Thank you for reading.
