for drawing on computers i recommend paintshop pro, run a search for it

if it is photo manipulation you want try adobe photoshop cs3

however both of these aplications are very expensive so you may want to try them before you commit yourself to them
Try paintshop pro or photoshop brilliant graphics programs once you learn how to use them but plenty of tutorials out there. There is a trial program on the site.
You could draw something, maybe a line drawing and scan it in then work it up with textures (scanned). The best programs I have used for this are illustrator and photoshop, working in layers with type and textures. It's pretty simple and very effective.
It's best to have a macintosh, they handle these sophisticated programs much better than PCs. The best program I have found for illustration is called Painter X (version "10"). After that, Photoshop CS2. You can get these for a PC as well, if you dont have a mac.
You need a drawing program. If you've got Windows, try Start - All Programs - Accessories - Paint.
a combination of 2d and 3d programmes works well

I use on Mac

Strata 3D CX

Photoshop CX

and Illustrator

works for me and pays well
