Please need help with building computers!!!!!!!?

Hi im good with buying pre-build computers but Im new to building them. I read a tutorial on how to build them but when i go to websites to buy parts the prices come up to about 600-700 dollars. And i know i can get a good dell PC with all the things i want (without a good video card) for about 400-500 dollars. I live in the US if that helps (lol). I just need someone to tell me where i can get all these things for 400-500 dollars. Ok here are the specs i would like to have:

-Intel Core Duo Processor

-A Good Motherboard that supports DDR2 or 3 memory

-A relatively new video card that supports DirectX 10

-160GB Hard Drive

-A 19 inch monitor (could be 17 inch)

-1 or 2 gigs or DDR2 or 3 memory (whichever the motherboard supports)

-An optical drive that can burn both CDs and DVDs.

-If you can get Vista Home Premium for under 100 dollars that would be good

A good computer case. Could have lights. If its too expensive dont worry about lights. Would like it if its see through.

You are not going to be able to build anything cheaper than dell gateway or hp they buy in volume cases by the million processers all that they buy in million unit bunches. stuff like that.

What you do get is the feeling of completeing a project that many people would have no idea how to do it.
