One.
"The software is licensed on a per copy per device basis.
You may install one copy of the software on the licensed device. You may use the software on up to two processors on that device at one time."

what? you can LEGALY only use the software on one per disck but you can do on as meny as you want just dont register it on the internet when it asks you.. is that what you were asking
Here's what you need to know. I have done this with an OEM WinXP MCE, and will be the same for Vista (OEM version )
Windows will only allow the legal installation on 1 PC. Retail version will only allow 1 PC at a time, but can be transferred to another one. OEM is even more discriminant, as the system used to register the OS is the only one licensed to ever use it !!! Next, even to use the system, the OS requests to log on to Internet to register, and it will verify if previously registered, and what PC. It won't allow a conflict. Now if you don't get it registered at all, it will eventually stop working ( 1 month I think ). There used to be an option to call Microsoft and register by phone, but don't know if you can still do more than 1 system.
not sure I'm understanding you question here but I'll try.
each computer(new) comes with its own OS. If you purchase a copy of say windows vista Basic the only way to install on more than one computer is sometimes tricky as each computer needs its own KEYCODE no two the same, even though I own my copy of XP and I had to reload it, when system went down, had to call microsoft tell them system crashed to get new KEYCODE to reload. and they don't like to give them out very often.
hope this answered your question
